The BCA San Diego Metro 8-Ball Division was secured once more by Goodfellas, who had gone 37 weeks undefeated until the final match of the season when, due to unavoidable circumstances, they found themselves 2 players short against See You Next Thursday, who were able to claim forfeits for Goodfellas missing team members and become the only team to defeat them for two whole seasons!
Luis Abarca was MVP with a magnificent total of 118 wins, teammate Robert Howell came in 2nd with 117 and third place was also from Goodfells, Jared Pitts, with 114.
Runner-up in the league went to OB1 Homies with a very strong performance, finishing the season with 31 wins and 7 losses which pushed What's Shape? into 3rd spot with their tally of 30W & 8L.

For the first time, teams in the San Diego Metro 10-Ball League have names, judge for yourself which name takes the prize of The Grand Cheese...
On Cue 5 is "catchusifucan", On Cue 1 is "Hot Shotz" and O'Billiards #1 is "Shark School". College #2 is "Rack Pack", O'Billiards #2 is "86'd" and On Cue #6 is "A Few Bad Men."
Next comes "Wer Wer Where?" (On Cue #4), "JCVD" (On Cue #3) followed by "In10sity" (College #3) and "Shooting Stars" (College #1) and lastly "Cue Fusion" (College #4) and "On Cue Crue" (On Cue #2).
The season-ending singles tournament took place last night, Wednesday 11/12/24 at On Cue Billiards and attracted 20 entrants vying for bragging rights over their team mates and rivals in the San Diego Metro 10-Ball league.
Shaun Murphy, from newly crowned Champions On Cue #5 came through the Winners' side and his team mate Winnie Tolentino fought through the One Loss side to reach the final, having defeated Phil Carranza (On Cue #1) into 3rd place and Mike Mann (also On Cue #5) into 4th. Strong performances by Christopher Moore (On Cue #2) and Danny Castaneda (College #1) saw them reach 5th & 6th place.
In the final, Winnie inflicted a first defeat of the evening on Shaun, however, since this is a true double-elimination format Winnie would need to beat Shaun twice. Alas, we were already past midnight and the club was late closing and so the team mates decided to share the glory and the prize money, making them both joint winners.
The final week of the 10-Ball season saw O'Billiard #1 play host to On Cue #5 in what proved to be a relatively close-run match, trailing the Champions-Elect 3-4 before Shaun Murphy secured their 22-0 win record for a second consecutive season.
Rob Epple from 2nd-place finishers On Cue #1 made a most impressive debut to the BCA 10-Ball league claiming MVP for games won at 178, ahead of Nayan "Snax" (162) and Shaun (161). Rob also took MVP for table runs with a new record of 24, leading Shaun (17) with Nayan & Winnie Tolentino in joint 3rd (13) and finally Rob shared MVP for most shut-outs (2) with Bruce Edgar. Please refer to the 10-Ball standings page for full final results.
The season-ending 10-Ball tournament will take place on Wednesday 12/11 at On Cue. Practice from 6.30pm and play starts promptly at 7pm.
The players from the San Diego Metro Pool Leagues sprung a surprise on League Operator Fran Smith on Thursday 8/22, in appreciation of her decades of dedication running our local BCA leagues, by presenting her with a personalized tournament jacket along with a trip to Las Vegas for the 2025 BCA World Pool League Championships.
Here at metrobcapool.com we’d like to send our huge thanks to Fran for all she does for us, to Jesse Sturm for coming up with this initiative, to all those who attended the presentation and, of course, to everyone who donated so generously to help make this happen.
"I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in my 'surprise gifts' night at On Cue. I appreciate your support in my efforts to maintain a league with good rule for the benefit of serious players.
See you in Vegas !!!"
Holty taking a leaf out of Reuben's playbook with this break & run... hooking himself on the 8-ball and coming up with a winning jump shot at just the right time... who needs shape anyway?
Reuben Duffy lived up to his team name "What's Shape?", hooking himself of the 8-ball during his recent break & run in a 9-7 win against Spin Doctors.
Who needs shape when you can shoot like this?
